I bought a new 2007 9-5 Aero at the end of the model year. For the Aero there really is no difference.
You could try searching for a 2007 Aero. There are still some around; mine was heavily discounted because the 2008's were on the way.
I had a 2000 9-5 Aero, and loved it for 280K miles. But, all of the things that could have been made better in the 2000 were improved in the 2007. I'll sight a few....
1. The radio controls (some are taking to calling it the Pontiac dash) are so much better. XM (which I've used for 7 years) is so much easier to use.
2. The 6 CD player is all up in the dash, and easy to use.
3. The self-leveling Xenon lights are fanastic.
4. The bluetooth option with voice-operated functions is excellant.
5. 260 HP versus 225 HP (my old 2000 9-5 Aero) does make a difference.
Finally....if you get a new 2007/2008 Aero you'll be invited to the Saab Aero Academy.
When you weigh in the value of a fresh 50K mile full warranty, the 100K mile driveline warranty, the free maintenance, and a trip to the Saab Aero Academy.....maybe that difference just isn't that great.
