The biggest percentage of check engine lights are caused by loose gas caps. It takes two drive cycles after you tighten the cap for the light to go off. After that there's not much you can do Except Ian Glenday's trick of disconnecting the battery and reconnecting.
The light indicates a fault or glitch, if the car continues to run fine you're not hurting anything by continuing to drive to Monday or beyond. If there was something more serious the car would go into limp home mode and it would still run, but it wouldn't run fine.
Itsa' warranty item on an '05 with 22k either way.
