I'd read about not rotating the engine counter clockwise, so I was very careful not to do that. However, I did have the heads off and I oiled the lifters while I was assembling it. I just smeared them with oil with my finger, and then dropped them into position. Would that be a problem? When standing at the passengers side tire, facing the engine, I rotated it clockwise.
One thign I noticed last night when trying to start the engine was that there was a fairly strong smell right around the injectors. It wasn't quite a raw fuel smell, but close. I thought it odd that I would smell anything there, so perhaps I've missed something there. I'll look again this morning.
