I have had this happen to my seat belts as well. What this is a the device to keep the seat belt from loosening up as the car seat jostles about during everyday use. It does not compromise the safety of a child seat that has a feature on the seat that does the same thing, like a Britax that has a clip to hold the seat belt in place along the upper side. If you put the car seat in, and then by jostling and lifting on the seat, can loosen the seat, then it is not safe and should be replaced. I would think talk to saab care about a free replacement, as this to me is a defect. Mine broke just from attempting to tighten the seat belt, and this would definitly fail under a heavy load, though it would not release the seat.
