Thanks. Will do some experimentation. Something that would snap so easily I wouldn't think would be of any aid in a serious accident.
But free replacement due to defect at either of my 2 dealer options on an '00 in San Diego--hah--both are awful. Marvin K Brown crashed my car into another customer's car when I had it in for an oil change a couple years back--and Continental Motors charged me like $50 labor to put a new front emblem on my car when they made it sound like they were going to comp it. Now I drive 90 miles to an independent I can trust. The lack of quality in-town service is probably the worst thing about owning a Saab--which is what I've told others who have been impressed with my 9-5.
Anyway--thanks again for the input. Will report what I find.
