I recently had the rear suspension (only springs and shocks this time) replaced again under warranty. The car sags just as much under load as it did before the replacement and the service writer thought it was pretty bad the way it was before. I still believe that there is some design problem in the rear suspension on the 9-5 as it doesn't seem to be able to handle the stated load limits without sag, alignment problems, and parts failure. In anticipation of the "it's not a truck" comments, I don't move anything very heavy and use the car only as a reasonable person would expect to use a wagon and within the stated load limits (just like others who have had similar issues).
I think my dealer will escalate this to engineering next and they may need to actually inspect the car (which he claims is rare), but given others complaints and what I see in other 9-5s on the road, this is not just my car, but all or some subset of 9-5s that are affected.
I guess the DIC/IDM failures took years to get a real resolution so I should expect the same in regard to this issue. I think Saab knows something is up based upon the way they have handled me and based upon what field engineering told a different dealer during the first go around. I also wonder if this issue at all led to the larger tires and other possible suspension tweaks on the 07+ cars. It is too bad that the NHTSA is so understaffed and underfunded.
