I tend to agree that there has to be something unresolved in the way the forces in the rear of 9-5 Wagons.
I have both a MY99 and a MY05, and in spite of the changes to the suspension, I can still see how low the MY99 sits compared to the MY05. I can-t see what the compromise needed to be, at the design stage -- I know that the independent suspension on the rear is setup differently from one with an axle, but perhaps they overdid, so that we all get improved handling at the expense of sag.
I remember I believe that you first brought this up because of the unnatural tire wear on the inboard edges of the rear tires. the MY05 also has this, but to a lesser extent than the MY99. I cope by rotating every 5 or 6 thousand kms (three times a year), to even it out. I can accept it as a necessity.
An alternative cause would be that the subframe metal was improperly heat treated in some set of parts, such that certain serial numbers of vehicles would be affected while other would not. I think that would be ruled out if your vehicle had its subframe changed out, since it could very unlikely be from the same batch so many years later...
Regards and commiserations from Toronto.
