GMPP extended warranty is NOT certified/CPO Posted by Mike Lynch [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: m You should get certified -here is cost, Jay Son, Sat, 15 Dec 2007 09:21:29 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Not to be a snob about it but purchasing a GM warranty is not the same as CPO nor as inexpensive. The Saab CPO warranty is zero deductible and an actual extension of the factory warranty using the factory warranty mechanisms in place to process claims.
I would suspect that the GM Protection Plan warranty you purchased was not the Major Guard coverage that mimics the factory exclusionary warranty. Your warranty may be the next step down, Value Guard, a named component warranty. In the past GM would not allow a MajorGuard on a vehicle past 3 years and 36,000 miles, but that may have changed or may have been overlooked.
One advantage to the GMPP is greater flexibility in length of coverage as the Saab CPO is strictly 6/100 and the availability at any GM dealer.
The Saab CPO process also includes a detailed pre-inspection and screening not necessary with the GMPP.
Of the extended warranties on the market the GMPP is the "Cadillac" of extended warranties, excuse the pun, and you'll never have to worry about the warranty company going out of business.
