One of the things not discussed in the OM is the ability to program auto lock. If the key is out of the ignition the system can be programmed to self lock after a specified time - that is programmable too. I did because my insurance company wanted an unattended self lock included. But I would strongly recommend AGAINST because of potiential problems that can arise. They recently asked if the car has a self lock feature on the alarm-- YES it Does! I just didn't advise them that it is disabled now.
I normally leave my keys in the car in the garage but pull them up enough to turn on the lights and unlock the driver's door. After the self lock feature trapped my keys in the car several times, I paid to have that feature turned OFF! Actually the SAAB locking and Lighting system has a host of really great features and your dealer should have given you the card that comes with the car to select how you wanted your car to be delivered. I think it is too late for you to have it done for free. Maybe you can stand on your sales person's desk and threaten him or else!
Didn't I tell you the ACC was written by Trolls.
