I can't tell you whether your truck is prewired to support Bluetooth. However, I can give you some thoughts on how to research the question.
The following is a list of the details.
1. Obtain a wiring diagram or maintenance documentation for the radio in your truck.
2. The radio requires only 3 connections to support Bluetooth.
- MUTE This allows the Bluetooth unit to interrupt the radio when
a call is initiated or received.
- AUDIO IN This allows you to hear the other side of your
conversation through the truck audio system.
- AUDIO IN GND The other side of audio input.
3. Other connections you'll need include the following, although these do
not necessarily have to be at the truck radio.
- +12VDC The Bluetooth unit requires a source of +12VDC that's
always on. And yes, this is typically available at the back of
the radio.
- +12VDC ignition controlled The Bluetooth unit requires a source
of +12VDC that's always on. And yes, this is available at the
back of the radio.
- -12VDC or GND this is available at the back of the radio.
I've installed units from Motorola and Nokia; there are many other companies that offer units. The above requirements were the same. Currently, I'm using a Motorola Bluetooth unit in my 2007 9-5; it includes voice-activated functionality.
If you're not comfortable with electronics call around until you find someone who has done this in your type of truck.
Alternatively, you could install a stand-alone Bluetooth unit. They're cheaper and only require a cigar lighter. However, on the negative side, they do not take advantage of the audio system already installed in the truck.
