Was driving this morning, no odd behavior from car. No ongoing problems either, well barring an intermittant error 21 in the ACC. Doing about 70 and BOING - triangle lights up - oil light comes on. Needless to say I immediately pull over and as soon as I stop billows of smoke out from under the hood. Go around and oil is pouring out the bottom of the engine.
While sitting and waiting for the tow, I decided to do some exploring. Coolant level seemed a little low from its last point. Pulled the dipstick and it was covered with what could appear to be foam from a cappucino. Smelled of gas, oil and sweetness. Bummer.
Got it to the shop, they have no idea what caused it, extended warranty folks won't release it for repair without a diagnosis of what part failed. Teardown $769. Tech says he thinks it will be covered, looking at what they cover and what is left of the engine.
Any ideas what could be the cause? Was running fine, have had no problems, warnings, CEL, nothing. Just a sudden catastrophic failure. 97K on car. Regualr service. In fact got a great bill of health at the 90K service.
Puzzled and really hoping the extended warranty folks do not try and deny it. I miss my car already
