V-6 No Start Posted by Doug [Email] (#3538) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Doug) on Wed, 9 Jan 2008 06:07:22 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I have a no start issue that I am very puzzled over, hopefully someone can help.
My 2003 3.0 V-6 cranks but no start, I have good compression, good timing, good fuel pressure, new fuel, two different new CPS's same problem. Removing the spark module and adding grounded spark plugs reveals one nice spark, then no spark.
I have had it running a couple of times by holding the accelerator to the floor, resetting the computer by pulling and reinstalling the fuse and cranking. It only starts occassionally, as soon as my foot moves from the floor, it instantly dies.
I suspect either two bad spark modules or a bad or misprogrammed engine computer. I do not want to start throwing parts at it but am not sure what else to do. If I have it towed to a dealer (very scary for me) will the dealers Tech II diagnose this problem? If I was to change the engine computer I believe it has to be matched to the VIN to work anyway is that correct?
