I have a MY99 with the banana, and a MY05 with the remote in the key.

The service writer is right about the newer version, but wrong about the MY99. Perhaps you could diplomatically explain to her manager that she has made a mistake.

Keep the remote, and if you dont get it resolved to your satisfaction, take your business elsewhere.

What makes it worse, it was a woman service writer ripping off your wife, and she, even if she had good intentions, should have been smart enough to check with the parts departement, who would have known the difference.

You can get bananas on eBay, and then bring them to a dealer to have them programmed.
