1. SERPENTINE BELTS: My wife's 2004 9-5 ARC came with the long belt; when I do the 60K service I'll switch to the short belt. I switched to the short belt on my 2000 9-5 Aero, with no notable consequences. My 2007 9-5 Aero came with the short belt setup and it's going to stay that way.
2. OFFSTAR: I would rip it out and throw it in the garbage. Then, use the TEL1 connector to support a bluetooth installation. OFFSTAR and Bluetooth cannot coexist.
3. RUNNING WIRES FROM THE TRUNK AREA TO THE DASH: A non-event. I did it on my 2000 9-5 for both the XM radio installation and the antenna lead for a Nokia handsfree installation (pre-bluetooth in 2000). My 2007 9-5 came with XM already installed, and my bluetooth kit installation did not require any wiring to the trunk area. Like my 2000, I’ve installed a combination oil pressure/voltmeter gauge in my new 2007; the big deal there is running wires through the firewall and across the dash…..uneventful.
Good luck Larry; call if you want to talk.
