From my experience in a 2000 9-5 Posted by Herb Hirsch [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Considering purchase 2000 9 5, PSIVART, Tue, 12 Feb 2008 15:55:43 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I accumulated 280K miles on one. So, 168K miles would not make me blink, especially at that price.
IMHO you should expect that some maintenance beyond the preventive variety will be required on any car with 168K miles. The following list represents the experience of one. These things may happen over the next 100K miles; it's very unlikely that they'll all occur at once. I have not listed normal preventive maintenance which you'll have regardless of which car you buy.
Things that I've experienced or that are known common issues.
1. Fuel pump (250K miles)
2. Water pump (once at 80K miles, and never again)
3. Throttle body (275K miles)
4. DI cassette (once at 110K miles and again at 265K miles under Saab
recall)
5. Heater control valve (265K miles)
6. ABS computer module (220K miles)
7. Catalytic converter (165K miles)
8. Drivers seat worn through covering (225K miles used like new
replacement from Goldwing)
9. Cabin ventilation fan motor (240K miles)
10. SID (210K miles)
11. Thermostat (250K miles)
12. Front wheel bearings (225K miles)
13. AC condenser (230K miles)
Others may add more items to the list above. I'm generally easy on a car so drive train components never end up on my lists (even after 40 years of Saab).
