In the continuing saga of my unfortunate move from Seattle to Texas with my Saabs, I've now dumped about 12 quarts of oil and $3600.00 into the $4000.00 65k mile 2000 95 I bought here in Houston (allegedly a great maintenance hx accordign to the $tealer) and my other car is bound to die for lack of proper facilities soon.

Basically, I bought the car after a supposedly reputable swede shop checked it out and said it was ok. Dealer pulled history said it was okay. Two days later the smoke came like a crop duster. I told the mechanic it was the turbo, but they insisted it wasn't and proceeded to replace all kinds of hoses and an air pump to the tune of nearly $2000.

So I pick it up, and it lasted all of 9 hours and did the same time. Guess what? Yeah, the turbo was bad. So bad in fact that it was broken in half inside. So $1200 and a new turbo later, you'd think I'd be fine right? Actually, they put the MAF on backwards (arrow towards the filter) didn't plug in the MAP sensor, and were trying to tell me it needed an oil pump (probably/maybe).

Now the car runs okay, but leaks oil somewhere. Still smokes, but that could be the reamainder of the 8 or so quarts that were dripping out of the tailpipe after the turbo went bad.

My feeling is that nobody here in Texas is really interested in selling or servicing Saabs. To the SUV crowd here, its just another odd 'northerner' car, which might explain why the only dealer close to me that wasn't even any good went out of business, the other two either don't answer the phone, or when they do, they can't speak english. Even the ones in Austin and dallas are retarded, both telling me that after I lost the remote for my car, it could NEVER be replaced no matter what...

BMW is looking better and better. They have 4 dealers here...
