Ok, update... The guy that was supposed to remove the batteries and leave it - didn't hear from him.

I left the batteries out for 2 weeks (i.e. my battery pack was set to OFF). After 2 weeks I started getting STA messages whenever I got the car on (same with the guy in UK with identical battery pack). It never went off though. Since STA came back, I gave up and turned the pack ON and everything went back to normal. I thought great :D Until 2 days ago when I got STA while driving. I'm not going to jump to conclusions right now until I get my indy with Tech2 to read the code and tell me what triggered STA (maybe a sensor?). But I think I heard my alarm blaring yesterday (or I'm just so obsessed with it now that I hear things).

Bottom line - whatever you do, you won't cheat TWICE. If anyone wanted my recommendation I'll go with same one as Anders - get new siren for $250 and don't worry about it anymore. Or get alarm disabled. Battery flip-flop - works, but temporarily. Be ready to redo your work whenever your Saab tells you to. Someone mentioned recently about hacking TWICE and telling it not to check battery status without disabling any other functions, but I have not seen any follow up. I'll stick with battery pack for now, check voltage when I have a minute (much simpler now that I don't have to take the wheel off to get there) and replace batteries if needed.

As for no batteries at all - that myth is ***BUSTED***
