Does the pre-load change the handling/ride quality? Will pre-loading the spring cause it to wear out sooner?
It sounds from your experience like the ideal solution is to use OEM springs with Bilstein HD and the Abbott Racing adapter. Then decide whether or not shims are necessary to further neutralize the camber issue once the ride height is dealt with. The Abbott Racing part is expensive but cheap compared with new springs, fancier dampers, and endless tire replacements.
