Yeah it's a combination of my lack of soldering experience and lack of proper tools. The smallest soldering tip I had was far too big. Then I had the problem of melting one side, but still couldn't pull the old bulb out because the other side was still hard, but by the time I melted the other side, the first side hardened. Agh! I guess now that I know it CAN be done maybe I'll try again and invest in a smaller iron tip. Do you know if I can buy the bases that I destroyed anywhere?
