After 14 years with a 1994 CES stick which I loved, I went looking for a 9-5 wagon. I was greatly assisted by extensive searches of this board as to model differences. In my search I drove only the I4 in all available models - Linear, ARC, and Aero and with both auto and stick trannies. They are very different cars and you will need to try them all to get the best fit for you. I settled on the 04-05 ARC with auto as the best bet for me, but had trouble finding one with low miles at a reasonable price. I ended up with an 03 Linear wagon with the options and colors that I wanted, figuring that I could add to the suspension and Zoom but could not change the other factors.
I agree that mileage and condition are parammout. Try to buy from an individual and get the IRIS report from a dealer when you get close to purchase. Good luck in your search
