Wacky Wipers on headlamps... Posted by MI-Roger [Email] ![]() ![]() |
My driver's side headlamp wiper stopped parking properly three weeks ago leaving the wiper arm partially blocking the lamp unit at times. About a week later the passenger's side wiper started doing the same thing! Even more bizzare is that when they don't park properly, the angular displacement between the blade and the correct park position is nearly equal for both wipers!
I initially thought it was a failure internal to to the wiper motor. I followed advice on this board and located a repair method on the 9000 board which involves soldering a new polyswitch (61 cents each) internal to the motor to correct the wiper parking error. (I haven't ordered the switches yet)
Now I wonder. Both wiper units, the same fault starting at nearly the same time, identical wiper displacement error with each unit. Could this be a faulty relay, and not two faulty polyswitches?
Anyone have a headlamp wiper relay fail?
Thanks.
