Out of curiosity I looked at the diagram in the WIS for that circuit.
+12VDC is wired directly to one side of the switch in the wiper motor. As long as the switch is closed the wiper motor will continue to operate. When the motor has moved the wiper arm to the home position the switch is cam’d open....and the wiper arm stops moving.
The micro switch would be candidate #1. I would definitely try the repair procedure. Alternatively, eEuroparts will sell you new motors for $230 EACH! This is why I removed one of mine on my 2000 9-5 at 265K miles and threw it away; it was destroyed by a deer attack on my car.
