I've fit:
54cm Specialized road frame, seat dropped
54cm Trek road frame, horizontal TT, seat removed (did try it in, might work)
60cm Orbea road frame (BIG frame, but compact geometry), seat removed
17" Giant MTB, seat dropped
My feeling is that medium-sized bikes and smaller will fit with the seatposts dropped. Larger frames will need the seatposts removed. I will remove the seats anyway to prevent scratching the seatpost, though.
The limiting factor is the height of the handlebars or the saddle/seat tube. I measured 29" high at the hatch opening and 32" further in. If your bike is under this with its front wheels off (resting on rear wheel and fork dropouts) it should fit. Leave a few inches for the board and mount. If you have high handlebars, remove the cargo floor and put the rack right on the spare wheel cover. That gives you another 3-4".
I'm going to use hook fasteners (the rough half of velcro) to keep the rack in place. I've noticed, however, that the board sliding side to side is more of an issue than fore/aft.
Pictures later tonight.
