I had to replace that plug on both my 9.3 and 9.5. What happens is the rubber coating on the plug dries up in time and allows oil leakage. It is possible to replace them without removing the valve cover. I've done it. you have to persuade it out using something like needle nose pliers and expanding them against the inside walls of the plug and wiggling back and forth. Not you, the pliers. Then you can just push in the replacement plug. Take note of just how far in the original plug is.
