What you have described is possibly a case where fuel pressure is bleeding down when the car sits overnight. As a result it takes a few more cranks before fuel pressure at the rail is sufficient to start the car.
During the day the car is not sitting long enough to replicate the same conditions.
The valve that prevents this bleed down is part of the fuel pump. I had the same condition in a 9000; I declined replacement of the fuel pump for only that reason. And no, the presence of this condition and the cause does not correlate with the remaining life of the pump itself.
Finally, as I said at the beginning of this post, maybe.....something else is the cause for the symptoms you have described.
