Always change plugs with the engine STONE COLD. Even a warm engine can cause the plugs to bind coming out. Also doesn't hurt to shoot a little penetrating oil into each plug socket 1/2 hour before loosening them, especially the first time, when you don't know if the last guy used anti-sieze. Damaging the threads in the head(s) is a very bad thing.
Also, don't worry about getting to much dielectric grease on things. If it ends up on the electrode this is not a problem.Better too much than not enough.
Don't overgap or under gap your plugs, Overgap can damage the DI, undergap can cause the engine to run rough under acceleration and effect fuel milage.
I don't know of any reason to disconnect the battery, as long as everything is shut down.
