Anti-Lock Brake lights and rough idle? Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Mon, 16 Jun 2008 17:37:35 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
As posted previously, my car has recently taken to randomly flashing and/or displaying the "TCS Off", "Brake", "ABS", and Triangle w/ Exclamation Point warning lamps. When these lamps stay lit the speedometer will drop to zero.
A Dealership mechanic inspected the car and declared the problem to be an intermitent failure of a wheel speed sensor/cable, but that this part needs to fail completely, or be in failed condition when he examines the car, before he can determine which sensor or cable is bad. In the mean time the car is safe to drive provided I am aware I have no ABS when the lamps are lit.
I have detected another symptom. When the lamps are lit and I am stopped, the engine idle is noticeably rougher! Is the ABS system malfunction interfering with the engine vacuum pressures? Or is the true cause of my lamp array issue a weak brake booster which is bothering the vacuum signal to the throttle body?
All comments and input are appreciated.
