This morning I almost made it all the way to work, 47 miles, without the brake warning lights coming on. But as I turned onto the driveway leading to the parking lot, all 4 lights illuminated, stayed "On", and the speedo went to Zero.
I parked the car, turned it Off, then restarted the engine to see if the 4 brake lights would still illuminate. They did, as well as the Check Engine Light!
This was odd. The car ran fine on the drive to work, it restarted fine, but I now had a CEL to worry about in addition to the brake warning lights.
I drove home after work with the CEL lit the entire way. Five separate times the 4 brake warning lights came On. One quick flash, and four latch On's where the speedo would drop to zero for five miles or so then suddenly start working again.
I checked the codes at home and found three diagnostic codes stored:
P0300 - Random Misfire Detected
P1300 - Random Misfire Detected - Catalyst Damaging
P1925 - No Bus communications with TC/ABS
OK, the third one is obviously linked to the ABS problem but what about the other two? Since it is quite possible I restarted the engine during the 5 second IDM Burn-Off, could these codes be related to that? My IDM was replaced under warranty at 190,000 miles and I now have 226,800 miles on the car. I had no driveability or performance issues during my evening commute.
I did not clear the codes after I read them, and will be taking the car in for service again tomorrow - if it seems likely the brake codes will still be "On" for the Tech.
Any other ideas?
TIA
