ScanGuage2 reports rather high mileage Posted by jgARC03SW [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() |
I guess I need to calibrate it somehow?
Driving rather spirited, averaging about 75mph on the speedometer (probably 72, even the Scanguage 2 reads lower than the speedometer...) I got a trip average on the scanguage of about 29mpg (V6) whereas my SID reported closer to 26. The 2-second instant update fluctuated wildly, and putting it in neutral going down a hill at 75mph made the scanguage read 167 MPG (I will take a picture next time). I reset the SID during this maneuver and it said 70MPG (new record) till I put it back in drive to go up the next hill. The coolant gauge is nice- the temperature never got above 202F. The MPG calculator on the scanguage2 is simply dividing its miles per hour reading by its fuel flow gallons per hour reading, so I guess its fuel flow reading is a little lower than actual. I did stop at a light in ECON on the climate control activated and my fuel flow rate was about 0.3 GPH, turning the A/C compressor on did not change RPM much but it did increase fuel flow to 0.45 GPH when stopped.
Sometimes it would read 9999 MPG for a few seconds but I think the instructions discuss that.
What other gauges do you use? Is there anything turbo specific? I velcroed mine to the dash just to the right of the steering wheel so that it is right under my TomTom GPS.
