That was my reaction. It appears that moisture in or around the fan controller would do this, apparently the fan always has 12 volts and the controller achieves it's effects by manipulating the fan's gound, if that phrase makes sense. A short to ground would turn on the fan, although it seems odd that rainwater would do this with only 12v and in the precise manner to turn on the fan. It also seems odd that the fan isn't turned off by the key being off, fan controller or no, it appears it's wired independent of the switch. I realize this is an obscure issue and if you're still reading this you're probably getting sleepy but maybe at some point it'll help someone. Thanks!!
