I've confirmed that Saab is still using the short serpentine belt per my local Saab dealer service tech.
Recently, I replaced the belt on my wife's 2004 9-5 ARC. I used a long belt with the additional idler pulley.
On this BB there have been a few posts complaining about vibration with the short belt. I have never seen a complaint or issue regarding use of the long belt; of course, replacement of the center pulley is a PITA.
Long and short belts remain available from eEuroparts with the required pulleys.
I am proceeding (every 60K miles) with continued use of the long belt based upon 2 constants. 1) no known issues, and 2) you will get stuck beside the road if you choose to do nothing.
