I am sticking with the long belt.... Posted by MI-Roger [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Serp belts: Has Saab gone back to long?, Noel, Thu, 26 Jun 2008 08:26:52 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The P/N for the correct Godyear Gatorback best is: 4061030. Cost me $31 at a local Autozone. New belt and all three pulleys are going on tomorrow, my tensioner is original (!!!) and it recently developed a nasty shudder. I have routinely changed the small idler at 60,000 mile intervals. The tensioner pulley only, and center idler were changed at 120,000 miles.
BTW - I had a Continental belt fail on me in late-winter after only 35,000 miles. The belt on the car now had accumulated 60,000 miles before it got pressed into emergency service 10K ago. I know, definitely not something to brag about. But I am not the only owner to have experienced premature failures of Continental belts on these engines.
