Mobil 1, Castrol Syntech, Royal Purple, Amsoil are all good. There are arguments for and against each, some of which may be valid. But if you change it every 5-6K any synth that meets the specs for the car will be fine.
In a 9-5 you need it to meet European ACEA specifications A3/B3. It will say the specs on the bottle. 0w40 or 5w40 or 5w50 is the correct weight.
As for filers, Mobil 1 is great (but pricey). Purolator Pure One is fine and the Mann filters from eEuro are the same as Saab OEM filters.
Don't use cheap no-name filters and the word is to stay away from Fram (cheaper insides).
