03 9-5 ARC. Recently the trunk would not open with the key fob or the door release button. Through this bulletin board I was advised to check the wiring harness running through the trunk lid and making the 90 degree turn at the hinge. Sure enough, two of the wires were broken completely in two, and the others were showing wire though the insulation.
My question is this: of the repair methods mentioned, would splicing about two inches of wire into each of the broken wires, Soldering it as connection, and heat shrinking wrap around each wire be a preferred option for a long term fix?
What are your ideas?
Thank you in advance for your advice.
