I just got my SAAB back from being repaired at the SAAB Dealer. Oil cooler leak (coolant loss) and fuel pump failure. We tried to drive the SAAB around the City contemplating if we should go ahead and take it on our 3500+ mile vacation. I really wanted to. I had topped off the coolant reservoir after getting it back from the Dealer. In just 100 miles, it was down about a inch. Far worse leak than before. My warranty just expired so I don't know if this repair has some type of warranty, hopefully more than 2 days? And if it's the water pump again(2 replaced since I've owned it), it was last done around 6 months ago. I can't find anything about warranty on warranty work done. They also managed to lose the rubber piece on the plastic engine cover that is curved and rests over the intake hose. So tomorrow we have to leave for North Dakota. Today I spent cleaning and servicing the 1999 Mercury Mountaineer. Oh how I wanted to drive my SAAB! If I can't get the issues fixed on my SAAB when I get back, I'm going to have to part with it, as much as I love the car. I can't own a car that I can't trust. I will say, the new fuel pump is quiet! I can't hear it at all with the engine running and I don't have to crank is near as long for it to start. That's the good. Thanks for everyone's advice regarding our road trip.
