valve coverrs (v6): intake manifold in way?

seems like I am getting mixed info on this and I just started the project.
Looking at the front valve cover the engine lift piece and oil level tube appear to be in the way, but I have not forced anything yet.
More importantly it appears that the intake manifold needs removed, yet a good source told me they didn't think so.
Who has done this job and can comment for the v6?
If I pull the intake manifold am I going to need a new gasket for that now to?
