sorry I didnt get back earlier. we got hit with TS FAY in south FL and it swamped us out. that storm was (is) bad news. I work for FP&L utility and had to go work 16-hr day storm duty for a few days. have been off the net. I degreased the engine and comp and definitely new signs of dye coming straight out of the center of the compressor, no where else. still running for now but it's time to get it overhauled: comp, dryer, expvalve.
why always the new dryer though? if brand new dryer gets exposed to air/moisture and gets vacuumed out. why different than the old one? A/C myth or the old one cumulatively wears also? no need to answer unless anyone likes the topic.
still on the fence about the DIY. storm duty and everything else set me back and got me real busy. might have to take it in. might try to see if they'll let me bring in the parts though. their comp was $650 and one Allan showed me was $365.
thanks again!
