The 2002 Aero engine has the same max torque as the 2001, but the horsepower is 20 bhp greater(250 vs 230), all at the high end of the curve.
I don't see much practical reason for this, other than to give a little additional kick right up near redline and to give a potentially higher top speed. I don't drive that way, so I don't worry about it.
Give me a fatter torque curve and I will grin like crazy.
