Ref. earlier post: "Anybody had these problems?" Thanks to those who replied; your information was helpful. Following is an update on the creep problem:
Idle is ~900 RPM in neutral, but when we put it in D and let off the brakes, the transmission shifts to 2nd gear at around 10 MPH with Tach reading over 1000 RPM. It will creep up as high as 1300 rpm, while the car speeds up as high as 18 MPH downhill. We are concerned about safety, lack of engine braking, brake wear, and poor fuel economy in city driving.
I haven't had an automatic for several decades, but this can't be proper behavior, can it? Feedback will be appreciated.
