That's interesting. I'm assuming you're in Europe somewhere? In the US the passenger seat does not recognize if a passenger is sitting in it. The FASTEN BELTS light only responds to whether or not the driver is buckled. In reading WIS it does mention that "in some markets" the FASTEN BELTS light will stay lit if there is a passenger in the front seat and he/she is not buckled. I think it would make sense for them to tie in the airbag system with that too if all the equipment is already there for it. I know in the US if you hit something both airbags go off regardless of the passenger seat being occupied. I'll look at WIS more closely later and see if it says anything about the airbag being connected to the sensor.
