For peace of mind, get the Iris report on the car. It will show everything that was done under warranty, and where it was done.
All you need is the VIN and a friendly Saab dealer - try the service dept. If they're a decent Saab dealership, they will print out the Iris for you. If they're idiots, they'll tell you that it's a "privacy concern" and will refuse. (not a privacy concern: Iris reports don't show ownership, just service work.)
You want to see the usual suspects", such as proper oil changes and hopefully just the "routine" stuff for a car of that age. I also like to see where the work was done - all at the same place is my preference. Each repair listing has a dealer code number that you can use to look up that particular dealer's location. We've bought, over the years, 3 used Saabs, and each one's Iris proved to be a good predictor of what kind of vehicle we were buying. YMMV, though.
As for the chime, I dunno. About 5 minutes and a little Tech II investigation would reveal anything stored in the car's computer. A typical dealer might ask 1/4 to 1/2 hour labor for the Tech II work. A good investment, IMHO.
HTH!
