A few thoughts FWIW:
- Symptoms sounds like CPS. A "bad new one" is not unheard of. You can check the resistance of the CPS when the car won't start and that should tell you if the CPS is good or not. (I dont recall the good/bad resistance but its here on the board somewhere)
- A failing neutral safety switch will result in no-crank.
- a fuel pump rarely dies without giving signs of impending failure. Any signs previous to the no start? stuttering during hard acceleration? longer cranks before it starts?
- you probably know this but for those who don't, touching/pumping the gas pedal during starting does nothing ... the gas pedal is not even connected to the throttle (drive by wire).
If you can get it started and have access to some test equipment you can check the fuel pump ... see the link. I monitor my fuel pump that way every 5 or 10k, just for piece of mind.
