Photo of new 9-5 revealed by accident?? Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Sat, 1 Nov 2008 13:05:57 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Anyone else receive the "2009 New Car Guide" from the Ann Arbor News yesterday?
Page #7 of this 8 page full color glossy flyer has an ad from the local Saab Dealer. In this ad is a photo(?) identified as the 2009 Saab 9-5. I checked the SaabUSA site for photos of the 2008 9-5, 2008 93SS, the Turbo-X, and the Aero-X. The car pictured is none of these.
It would be extremely foolish to design a new front clip for the last year of a vehicle's model run, so this photo must be the new 9-5! And it must be coming out as a 2009 model! Not difficult to believe since the Opel Insignia was released this summer.
I sure wish I had a scanner to post the single photo which is taken from the left front corner perspective.
Design clues in photo:
- Three port grille. One large center and two small winglet grilles incorporated into the headlamp nacelles.
- Chrome trim surrounding headlamp nacelles is much thinner than the current 9-5. Single projector lamp, no evidence of a row of LED's.
- Large "below bumper" grilles with sweeping contrours. Bottom of center grille opening nearly dips to meet top of lower grilles.
- Clamshell hood with the parting line between hood and fenders at same elevation as bottom of side windows. One continuous side line.
- 20-inch or larger wheels with 25 or 35 series tires on deeply fluted turbo wheels which completely fill the wheel wells.
- A small quarter window is retained behind the read door windows. Door handles are body colored horizontal bars spanning nearly circular depressions in the door.
- Smooth slab sides similar to my wife's 2006 9-3.
- Car in photo has a front Euro plate with yellow Swedish emblem on a field of blue on the far left of plate.
This may be a re-touched photo, or it may be a CGI or graphic artist rendering. Looks very nice!
