I have had a 2000 9-5SE V6 w/120K miles for 3 months. I changed the oil using Mobil1 5w30 & Tough Gaurd filter. About 4 days later I came to a stop sign and noticed the engine making a rattle/knock sound almost like a diesel. The sound comes from the passenger side and is hard to trace. The car is running fine outside of this and I didn't notice the noise at speed. So far I have disconnected the serpentine belt to check if it is an accessory and switched to 10w30 with standard filter and the noise is still there.
Could the oil pickup screen be sludged on a V6 and starve lifters?
Could a timing tensioner or idler be failing and rattle?
The engine was whisper quiet before this. Appreciate any help or advice Thank You.
