I have detailed instructions at home and I'll try to remember to type them up and post them.
Bottom line, you need the special tool to do the job, which rents online for about $150. It's up to you whether the savings in labor makes it worthwhile.
To rotate the engine you can just use (if memory serves) a 17mm hex socket on the crank pulley bolt, which is an external torx head.
I did mine and it wasn't particularly taxing with the tool. Glad I did it myself. I'd say it took me 4 hours, allowing for a few newbie learning experiences.
It'd be a good idea to replace the thermostat and water pump at this mileage (which by the way is spot on for recommended timing belt change as well). Allow another half day for that, as the upper and lower intake manifolds must be removed to gain access to the thermostat. Water pump's a super cinch.
When you do the timing belt, make certain you also replace the tensioner assembly (and pulleys) and the idler pulley.
If the noise didn't go away with the serp belt removed, then it's not AC related.
