The combination of updated software (for your ECU) and updated hardware (IDM) seems to yield a more merciful, slow, code throwing death vs the sudden death that we are used to in the 9000. The updated software seems to have better diagnostics.
And beware that the v6 is famous for toasting its cat when one IDM dies. Since the engine kept running (on 3 cyls) raw gas was pumped into the exhaust system and ignited in the cat. Others will know better but it might be covered under warranty?
