Sorry for the confusion, you are correct,the STA does not set a CEL
An STA is the result of a theft system code being present after running the theft system diagnostics. When a theft system code is set the STA will appear. The code can only be read by a Tech II. One of the codes is "low siren battery voltage", there are a number of others.
