In my sedan (works the same in the wagon) I took the rear seat bottoms out, folded the driver side rear seat back down and then reclined the passenger front seat all the way to the floor in back and I had TONS of room. I used this configuration to get the full cat-back exhaust (welded in one piece) that I bought on eBay home. You could definitely get a few 8' 2x4's in there diagonally as long you protect the leather and stuff. If you're not fully convinced of the 9-5's cargo capacity don't forget Home Depot has those trucks you can rent hourly (I think). I'd much rather pay some extra money to rent a truck every once in a while than have to drive one ALL the time. Good luck!
