Check the ABS connector, but you may need a rebuild Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Sat, 27 Dec 2008 18:19:26 In Reply to: dash looks like xmas tree, rfaheysr@rcn.com, Sat, 27 Dec 2008 13:08:21 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
You already know the code is a P1925, and this indeed means there is no communication between the ECU and the ABS controller. Usually this means the controller needs to be rebuilt or replaced.
A replacement costs over $2600 just for the part!
A rebuild costs $200.
A dirty connector (or loose wire) can be fixed for free.
You didn't specify your location as I am aware of three companies in different parts of the country which repair these controllers. I used bba_reman in the Boston area, I believe they also have offices in the UK. Module Master in Idaho also repairs these Bosch ABS controllers. ATE (Auto Truck Electronics) is the third company and I believe they are located in Florida.
Be aware that rebuilds are not always successful! Some faults cannot be repaired and some posters have resorted to replacing their failed ABS controller with another used one from a wrecked car knowihg full well that this salvage unit may also fail someday - but maybe the salvage unit will be repairable.
Best of luck in correcting this problem. You can safely drive your car with a failed ABS controller, but you will not have anti-lock brakes! Drive accordingly.
