turbo whistle noise -

hi - i have an '01 aero with about 60K miles. Mysterious noises are always hard to describe, so bear with me. Looking at the turbo guage - when i accelerate under normal conditions, there is a noise that seems to be associated with the amount of turbo boost at the low end. just before it goes into the yellow part of the boost guage, there is a noise that sounds like when you blow into the top of a glass bottle - sort of a mix between a "whistle" and a "hum". this happens around 40 mph and if you hold that speed, it will continue at the same pitch, varying with the amount of throttle you give it. if you let off the gas, it will stop, and if you accelerate and get into mid (yellow) range boost, it also goes away. i'm wondering if there is some type of leak in one of the lines or something. I had a 9000 turbo that had a squeek-noise that turned out to be the "hooter valve" but i don't know if that is my problem here. thanks....britta.
